Private Pilot Program
This program is intended for those students interested in flying helicopters as a hobby or as a first step towards a Commercial Pilot License. In order to qualify for VA Benefits, Veterans are required to achieve a Private Pilot's License before enrolling in additional training.
Professional Pilot Program
For the serious career-minded student this is the course for you. Professional Helicopter Academy has developed a comprehensive curriculum of ground and flight instruction designed for students seeking career level skills and experience in order to gain a competitive advantage in the job market.
Commercial Pilot Program
The ultimate career package! Our Commercial Pilot instruction course encompasses all of the tools from the Private and Professional Pilot Programs with a focus on additional detail and depth of knowledge. The instruction provided for this certification will prepare you to operate a number of different helicopters in various practical scenarios such as congested areas, pinnacle approaches and confined area landings. Per the FAA, the minimum number of flight hours required to achieve a Commercial Certificate is 150.
Instrument Rating
Maintaining an instrument rating opens up a number of career options a non-instrument pilot would otherwise be unqualified. An instrument rating is especially beneficial when making the transition from smaller to larger size helicopters. In your career search you will find many employers set a minimum qualification of a certain number of flight hours and an instrument rating.
Flight Instructor Program
A rewarding career as a Flight Instructor begins at Professional Helicopter Academy. The course teaches how to prepare lesson plans and teach students with varying backgrounds and skills, evaluation of student flight programs, effective pre/post flight instruction, analysis and correction of student pilot errors and flight instructor responsibilities and certifying procedures. Students successfully completing this course will earn their qualification as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), a requirement to give instruction in any aircraft.
Mountain Flying
Professional Helicopter Academy has designed this course for students who wish to prepare themselves for a career flying in high density altitude conditions. The course will cover flight planning for high altitude and mountain conditions, navigation in mountainous areas, wind conditions and how they influence flight techniques and basic survival in the mountains. Students will also develop crucial judgment, planning and decision-making skills.
