VETERANS
VETERANS
Professional Helicopter Academy has achieved Part 141 status, and is approved for the training of veterans, reservists and other eligible persons under the Montgomery GI Bill and the provisions of Title 38, U.S. Code.
Only vocational training programs are accepted by The Veterans Administration. Once the veteran has a Private Pilot Certificate, the Veterans Administration will reimburse 60% of the veteran's cost for the Part 141 Approved Course(s).
It is important for the Veteran to learn if they qualify for benefits. Contact the Veterans Administration at 888-442-4551 or www.va.gov for answers to any questions in regards to eligible Veterans Administration benefits. Following qualification, Professional Helicopter Academy can assist with completing the appropriate VA documents upon enrollment and completion of a Private Pilot Certificate. Before the student initiates training, the Veteran must also have their Class II Medical.
If this is the FIRST time a Veteran has used their benefits, they will complete VA form 22-1990 Application for VA Education Benefits. If the Veteran has used their benefits before, they will complete VA form 22-1995 Request for change of Program and Place of Training. The selected form will be completed and mailed to Professional Helicopter Academy with a copy of the Veteran's discharge papers (Military Form DD214 - #4). PHA will file the paperwork with the Veterans Administration.- #4.
With regards to how Veterans receive benefits, it is important to understand that the funds available through the GI Bill can only be obtained through reimbursement of flight training costs. The GI Bill cannot be used as a direct payment source. The timeline for reimbursement occurs as follows:
- Veteran pays for training out of pocket (or via financial aid);
- On the 1st of every month following the month of training, Professional Helicopter Academy submits a reimbursement form on behalf of the veteran;
- The Department of Veterans Affairs processes the form and issues a 60% reimbursement of the monthly out of pocket expenses directly to the veteran.
We appreciate your time and service to our country and will do our best in helping you achieve your aviation career goals.
